Frequently Asked Questions

Where Do I Park?
There is free off street parking on Solent Circuit. Alternatively there is paid parking inside the hospital grounds.
What Should I Wear?
Depending on the type of injury that you have, you will need to allow the physiotherapist to thoroughly assess that particular part of your body. If it is your lower limb, wearing or bringing shorts would be appropriate, however we do have shorts here if you do not bring any. If it is your neck, back or upper limb, we provide gowns for our female clients so that we may assess those areas thoroughly also. If you are attending hydrotherapy, please bring a change of clothes, towel and a bottle of water.
Do I Need A Referral From My Doctor?
No referral is necessary to see a physiotherapist if you are a private patient. If you have been injured at work and have a workcover claim or have a Third Party injury from a motor vehicle accident, you will need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist.
Should I Bring Anything With Me?
If you have any X-rays, MRIs, operation reports etc, this would be fantastic to bring along. The more information you can give to your physiotherapist, the more accurate and thorough they can be in providing you the best possible treatment for you on the day.
Should I Bring My Private Health Card?
Yes, if you have private health insurance bring your card along on the day of treatment and we can simply swipe your health card through our HICAPS machine and then all you do is pay the gap fee. The gap fee varies between health funds and the level of cover you have with that particular fund.
Do You Have A Cancellation Policy

Yes, we do have a cancellation policy.

No show to your appointment – 100% charge of consultation

Less than 4 hours notice – 50% charge of consultation

Do You Send Out Reminder Calls or Text Messages?
Yes, our practice management system automatically sends out text messages the day before your appointment to remind you of your appointment. Please let the receptionist know if you do not wish to receive a message the day before your appointment.
What If I Need To Have Further Imaging Such As An MRI or An X-Ray?
This can be arranged by your physiotherapist on the day. We are fortunate enough to have a full imaging facility located in the basement of the hospital so if an MRI, X-ray, CT, Ultrasound etc is needed, we can arrange it immediately on the spot. The physiotherapists are able to refer for these services immediately, however some of them do require a gap payment depending on the area that will be scanned.
How Long Is The Appointment?
It is best to give yourself approximately one hour for your physiotherapy treatment. It will vary depending on your individual circumstances and the injury you have. But generally on average, allow about an hour. If you need to leave and be out of the practice earlier, please let your treating physiotherapist know as soon as you arrive so they can make sure you are not late leaving.
